2026 Week 33
August 10th - 16th
Back at it
After a lengthy summer hiatus, back to bus fixin’ time!
I had a helper, once again, so I took advantage and we pulled out the driver’s seat to see what lay beneath. Always gotta start something new rather than finish up the old projects, I guess…
It was quite disgusting underneath. So, out comes the shop-vac and we get to cleaning.
After a mild cleaning (still pretty dirty), it looks like some mild surface rust, but nothing too serious.
Wider view.
We also took the time to add another layer of primer (this time filler primer) to the bumper parts and parcel shelf. They were primed with metal etching primer, and I wanted something without acid in it as the next coat so future coats wouldn’t have issues.
First, had to scuff up the primer so the next layer would stick.
Then, hit everything with the filler primer in the makeshift paint area.
I started priming the window frames as well, but only got a couple done late on Sunday night. Then, I hung them up in the garage after painting.
More priming fun continues next week,…
